Perosphere employs rational drug design in order to invent new small molecules that can then be used for specific therapeutic processes. They essentially focus on creating what is known as “rescue” drugs. They also seek to apply drug delivery technology with drugs that are already on the market in order to increase the safety and ease of using the drug. They’re currently in the process of creating many patents on their unique products. They currently have 30 issued patents and 10 that are pending.

In addition to Bakhru’s contributions to Perosphere, he also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medical Science at Brown University. In the past, he completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship with Dr. Mathiowitz at Brown University. He completed his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University, his M.S.E from John Hopkins University in Materials Science and a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in Biomedical Engineering.

Bakhru has achieved some significant feats in his field. In 2008, he was the winner of the Global MOOT Corp competition. In 2009, he received the Carnegie Mellon Tepper School of Business “Entrepreneur of the Year” alumni prize. In addition, he has co-authored over 20 publications, eight patents and a chapter in a book.
